The Dalai Lama’s home temple is an integral part of the Tibetan Buddhist community in Mc Leod Ganj, Dharamasala, India.
ROGPA charitable trust ‘ Trusted friends and helpers’ acts to integrate Tibetan refugees in exile by increasing Tibetan responsibility, achieved through the baby care centre, womens craft workshops and the ROGPA shop and cafe. They do not conform to to the ‘hand out’ philosophy, rather aim to empower Tibetan people.
Tibet has been occupied by the Chinese government since the battle of Chambo invasion in 1950. It is estimated that over 1 million people have died and over 5,000 monastries have been destroyed as part of the ongoing suppression and genocide of Tibetan culture.
