Te Pooka we’re a mighty troupe of story tellers, acrobats, arielists, actors and circus skills professionals the troupe reigned for over 10 years on the Scottish creative arts scene. They travelled throughout the highlands, through Europe and had a base in Edinburgh city centre. They invited all to splendour in the wonderful magic, mysticism and mayhem that was conjured up through a love for perfomance and the art of caberet. These portraits give a glimpse of some of the charachters that were imagined within this time.
The portrait style is reminisent of the mid 16th century in Europe when carnival days were a hive of deaucherous activities. This had to be allowed by the monarcy and is said to be the original birth season of the jester.
